Welcome 2023

The Sun moves into the 41st hexagram on 21 or 22 January (depending on your time zone). This symbolises the actual start of the year when new beginnings, dreams and aspirations are set in motion.

This is what will happen on a collective, national and planetary level. Themes will be in the air and consequently our minds will be drawn into them. But how much do they really affect you? There are clues in your personal Solar Return for the year. Also, Strategy and Authority will help to sort out what is unnecessary.

Let's see what the coming year has in store for us.

The first thing that strikes me is triple-split definition. The year is not going to be a straight line: the three themes will spread out in different directions like a swan, a crab and a pike. The mental pressure to know the unknown will overlap with the desire to find your own direction in life and intersect with the urge to satisfy needs, desires and dreams.

They will follow and cross each other repeating themselves in different combinations.

If we look for a comparison in 2020, when "it all began" (on the 2020 picture), it was very straightforward. That's how we remember it - it was all about Covid, taking care of ourselves and our loved ones and fighting for higher values. The latter, by the way, has been reconsidered by many.

But look at the amount of adrenaline pressure that was built up in the Root Centre during that time! It has accumulated more than enough energy to shape and drive the transformation for many years to come. The simple act of sitting at home has kick-started such profound economic and political changes that will not end any time soon.

To form a majority, the Quarter of Initiation has been added to the Quarter of Mutation. The constant changes that take place gradually form small but significant experiences. New knowledge is being shaped on this basis. I expect the number of “how to save your business”, “make a million”,” survive the transformation period” and similar courses to increase.

In 2023 there will be a lot of insecurity and learning (the 1 line will predominate). We can’t expect ready-made directions and will have to find and explore our own. But how creative this process can be! At the same time, doubts and exaggerated fears of past mistakes can slow things down – I, or we, remember that it didn't work, so it's better not to start.

There are also many of the 6 lines that will lead to an increase in idealism in society and with it hypocrisy, I have to appear better than I really am. I have a question for bloggers who broadcast their success, how they make such a confident march towards a bright future in today's reality?

Looking at the three undefined centers in the cycle we can conclude that there will be a deprivation of three delusions. The first is security. It never really existed, but under the influence of the Cross of Planning we have had more opportunity to calculate our lives ahead. It will become apparent that this time is almost over.

It will be difficult to accept the value of the transitions and the potential behind them. Mars in the Open Throat center will provoke the momentum of change, but the time is not yet ripe this coming year. Although there will be a lot of talk about how we need to improve our lives for the better now or we won't survive (Mercury at 58.6 in detriment and 32.6). But these are just talks...

The fourth year in a raw Pluto creates pressure to find explanations and deeper meaning - why and what for? And with the defined 61-24 channel, there is a chance of insight. But the year is emotional, so no matter how solid the conclusions seem at the moment, there's a good chance they'll be reconsidered many times. You've seen every emotional being – today’s 'yes’ becomes tomorrow's 'no’ and 'I don’t know’ the day after, and so on in a circle.

The pressure of limitation from the 60th gate will continue in the annual programs until 2026. I don't know about you, but I'm already used to it. If you accept your limitations and don't break through a closed door, then suddenly new possibilities open up. Possibilities you could never have dreamed of.

The gate works on a pulse, not all the time. Everything is going well and smoothly and then oops, suddenly there is a blockage. When and how it will be resolved is completely unpredictable, - oops, and a solution has come. Hello, melancholy and depressive episodes, while you wait.

60.3 is the line of conservatism. "I don't want to jump in with both feet, I'd rather wait for the right moment.” Yay, I think we're getting there in terms of accepting limits!

Neptune at the gate 36 is still there, and so it is the crisis. 36.1 is about resistance, but how do you fight the influence of such a big and long planet? I see the first uncertain glimpses and an upswing only happening in 2025 when the whole channel 36-35 will be defined and Pluto moves into 36.6 in exaltation - the line of transition and justice.

Uranus has moved into gate 2. This is the planet of new order and unconventional ideas. We're going to see a lot of focus on transforming our energy application - I've been an employee/real estate investor/holidaymaker in Turkey all my life, maybe it's time to try something new? I am fed up with everything I have and ready for new directions. But I can't just take any of them, only practical and deeply meaningful ones.

If your Strategy and Authority say ‘yes’ to this year's theme, then congratulations - there's a chance of some unexpected ideas coming towards your way, along with an ability to move beyond yourself, or at least outline a path in that direction. It's normal to feel insecure at first, but your intuition and immersion in the process will help you cope.

The two black channels in the cycle indicate where the mind's attention will be particularly focused on and where the main pressure of conditioning will come from.

The channels 19-49 will create a great focus on meeting needs, from the most basic, such as food and shelter, to the social and emotional. There is a tendency to fall into dependency (e.g. one country falling into dependency and pressure from another).

There is a great chance of a riot on the ship if these needs, especially the primary ones, are not met. Here it’s better to wait and filter, as the channel is emotional, but who does that in the Not-Self world?

In general, social norms will pull on the principality and the willingness to fight for our values. At the same time, we will see real revolutions next year. The channel was present in 2021, and if you remember, there were a lot of riots and protests when people got tired of sitting at home, but it did not turn into a real upheaval anywhere in the world.

The channel 41-30 will provide an opportunity to dream and fantasise, although choosing the right focus won't be easy.

It comes at the right time and brings the potential for balance. Literally from the Rave I-Ching about 30.1 in exaltation - "Composure. Balance in the face of disorder", "The maximisation of limitation in all cases. Stability through feelings, no matter what the situation". Sounds very promising at first glance, but the gate is activated by Saturn, so it will be a challenge to implement all of the above. There's a lot of preoccupation here with feelings, in order to get to stability. With the fire of principles in the air, will anyone do it?

In summary, the crisis and limitation will continue, the year will be hot and emotional, but at the same time we may catch glimpses of new and unexpected directions in the growing chaos.

2023 will only reinforce the understanding that we can only rely on ourselves. Our Strategy and Authority will surely help us sort things out.
